Madison’s Reflection
This semester the one assignment that really challenged my writing skills was our local paper. This paper I had to really focus on organization of my paper, my credibility and clear ideas and thoughts. Our paper was the start to the semester, the longest of all, and the most informing. In the end I was stressed but all my hard work paid off with a grade that was above my expectations. This paper was the first paper, which is what may have made it feel like the hardest, but after finishing this paper the others seemed like cake.
Taking this class online had its pros and its cons, and even though it was online I was never confused on what to do. The teacher detailed everything precisely the way she wanted it done and really stuck to the plan. Our teacher really portrayed Her efforts to make us better writers, through every assignment and lesson plan.  I felt that by doing this it helped me feel closer with the class and made it not even feel like it was online.
This semester I feel the area I was most successful in was my writing and getting my ideas out across my paper. This was the area I thought I was going to struggle in the most. I really was surprised with how well I did on my overall papers. My final grades were above my expectations, and helped the hard work pay off.  I think the reasoning behind this was because I am really hard on myself when it comes to writing. I really try to make sure I am putting everything together so that it flows together and is credible. I often felt I was not meeting the expectations good enough, in the long run it allowed me to work hard and achieve a good grade for my efforts. Over all I feel this is the area I was most successful, and really gave me a lot of practice towards other papers.
The area I felt I struggled most with was with formatting my citations correctly. I did not have any problems incorporating sources into my paper, but I struggled with formatting. I had to change and edit my papers a lot this semester but I feel it will help me get getter on future papers. I feel I did poorly because I did not pay enough attention to the little details. I think I will need to still work on developing these skills,
In English this semester I have really had to learn new disciplines. With writing all these papers and projects and having to work several hours a week I really had to discipline my self to get and stay focused. I had a lot of practice writing papers this semester; this will help me out in my other classes though out my college career. This will allow me to be able to prepare, write, and edit my paper more efficiently. My ability to be able to discipline my self will help with being able to get work done on time and properly.
This semester I have also had to become a more organized planner. I have learned to plan my weeks in advance in order to allow enough time to get everything I need accomplished. Not only did I have to work on organizing my time, but also I have had to work on organizing my school supplies and papers and reference sheets. By learning to be organized with my time and things it will help me to be more efficient in my career.
After everything I have accomplished this semester I would have to say this semester has been one of the most challenging in my college history. This semester has challenged me in every aspect of my life. I have been overwhelmed with studies and papers and also with family emergencies. Being able to balance life and work has been a struggle I have had to over come. At the end, I can still hold my head up high, realize I tried my best and this makes me happy I made it this far through, and have overcome all my life struggles and trials.
